Email Scam – Wire fraud

WIRE FRAUD SCAM

We had another wire fraud attempt last week.  This time with a little different twist. For all the details, please watch this short video.

PLEASE CHANGE YOUR EMAIL PASSWORD

Here are a few steps you can take to protect yourself and your clients.

1. Change your email password on a regular basis.

2. Educated your clients about wire fraud.

3. NEVER email wire instructions to your client. Let the title company send them.

4. Have your clients call the title company to verify the account number over the phone.

5. NEVER send confidential info over free Wi-Fi.

6. Share this Wire Fraud Notice with all your clients.

PLEASE NOTE…  Last summer a Kansas court held a broker and agent responsible for funds lost in a wire fraud scam, over $167,000.
